AFSCME Wins Major Defense of State Employee
Recently, AFSCME won a major case in Maricopa County Superior Court and before the State Personnel Board.
An employee of the Department of Revenue (DOR) had been unfairly terminated from her position. AFSCME represented the employee before the State Personnel Board, which overturned the dismissal. But instead of putting the employee back to work, DOR appealed the case in superior court.
The superior court sided with the Personnel Board's decision and ruled against DOR. The Personnel Board ordered DOR to put the employee back to work and compensate her for ten months of back pay and benefits.
