Message in Support of State Employees

Please contact your legislators and let them know about the impact of budget cuts on state employees. IMPORTANT: Be sure you only contact them from a personal phone outside of work hours. Don't contact legislators from your work phone or e-mail or during work hours! Below is a possible message you could convey to your legislators.

"Dear Senator and Representatives:

"As a resident of Arizona and a tax paying voter, I am concerned with the impact of budget cuts on state employees dedicated to serving Arizonans statewide and on the services they provide to keep the state running.

"My request is that the Legislature implement temporary furlough days rather than a 5% pay cut to state employees, a pay cut that would become permanent (even after the economy recovers) and from which state employees would not recover.

"Furlough days can be used to reduce agency spending with minimal impact to Arizonans working for the state and supporting their families.

"We all have to work together to get through this difficult situation, so let's work together to ensure the delivery of state services and minimize the impact to our state workers.

"Thank you for your cooperation and support in ensuring that temporary furlough days will be used instead of a permanent 5% pay cut."
